This should probably more accurately be called hate-love relationship .... no, not with my cat ... with the pile of tax forms/papers she's sleeping in!
I've simly GOT to get more organized. Basically, my current method is to throw everything in a folder and not think about it until mid-January. I usually get uber stressed out and massively cranky, which no one appreciates.
Currently, I'm LUSTING after the Quick Books Pro program. I'm told it will simplify my life, but I simply have not had the TIME to order it/install it/learn it. UGH!
I can't wait until Heartland grows enough and I can just OUTSOURCE this!!!!!!

Lol. love the posts. Chris and I are talking about one of those things too...as Finance and Accounting was never quite my subject-ironic eh?-we think with my "business" as little as it is, it would be to our best advantage...i think chris said he was looking at "quickin" or something like that...sp??
Really Quickbooks is very easy. It makes life so nice at tax time. Although if I didn't have inventory or employees I would stick to Quicken. I use both one for business the other for personal, church, and the Amusement Association.
I think Quickbooks still will send you a trial version to see if you like it.

Oh my gosh. I feel you. I am meeting with an accountant for the first time ever tomorrow and I am dreading them telling me I've been doing it all wrong since I started my business.

Karen! You have got to get yourself an accountant! I finally broke down and got one and it only took her a couple hours to enter in my whole 2007 into quickbooks! She's now doing all my taxes for me and coming once a month to do my books. It's so worth all my sanity!!!
KAREN!!! I am soooooo with you and have the exact same method!!! ouch! and I also think the cat (mine) is a convenient way for me NOT to do it anytime soon - She sleeps in my piles too!! Seriously! I have some type of quick books on my computer and do you think I have the time to figure it out? PS and LR are learning curves still!!! I'm telling myself my house will explode if I don't get it done by March 15th. I like to scare myself. deb
Kacie! I DO have an accountant who is harassing me to get quick books ... I am jus SO SLOW .... and need to get taxes done for THIS YEAR!!!
I'll have it by the end of the month, then love life more! Until the, my cat loves her tax naps ... instead of 'cat naps.'
