99 Red Balloons

Spent Saturday morning babysitting Nephew Theodore. We hung out, and did a few balloon drops with leftover balloons from his birthday party.

And did lots of singing and dancing to "99 Red Balloons." I happen to think it'd be a fabulous idea for a kid b-day party ... getting 99 red balloons and finding someplace to put them all! Fun all around! :)

Lots going on, photos/stories to share (hopefully soon!).

Ben Folds LIVE! :)

Last night, Erik and I were in Wichita to see musician Ben Folds. It was good times. :) (Don't you think he looks like he should have his own dot com company? Sort of has the CEO of Zappos look going on).

I'm honestly more familiar with Ben's work from when he had an entire band, so seeing him solo was different. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but it was really cool because the audience became his backup singers. It was really incredible! He'd sing to us and we'd back him up ... and there were portions of the show where he's direct a 3 part harmony and incorporate it into the song (which concluded with him directing us from ON TOP of his piano — that instrument sure took a beating).

One thing that surprised me was seeing some kiddos. Like ages 8 to 10. Ummmm... Ben has a potty mouth. Not sure I'd take my 8 to 10 year old to see him in concert. But he DID do some of the music from Over the Hedge.

After he sang the entire, uncut version, I looked at Erik and said "I imagine they put a different version on the soundtrack to sell to little kids." ;)~

Ok, I'm trying to get to the water aerobics class (yeah, it's the arthritis one, so laugh at me!). He's actually in concert in Lawrence TONIGHT for any of you who are interested (or Erin, I know you're in the KC area!). For ticket info to tonight's show, CLICK HERE.

Help us choose a first dance song!

SOOOOO....Erik and I are trying to come up with a first dance song (no, we don't have a song that's "our" song ....).

We went about this by both Erik and I making compilation CDs .... it was fun, but also challenging. We have VERY different musical tastes (but THANKFULLY he is not a fan of country music!). Oddly enough, my dance song with Dad IS a country song ... but we have to have SOME surprises at the wedding! ;-)~

Ok, here's two from Eva Cassidy. Erik introduced me to her music and I LOVE it!

The song Erik likes from her is "Time After Time".

Ironically, her rendition of "Fields of Gold" was on my CD!!!! (We think it's a sign!)

Erik also suggested "I Will" by the Beatles.

Other songs I'm wild-crazy about include: "We Are Man & Wife" by Michelle Featherstone and "Falling In Love At a Coffee Shop" by Landon Pigg. I'm also a BIG fan of "Feels Like Home"written by Randy Newman.

Leave us a comment and help us choose!
