Super-sized it

Remember THIS POST? Erik thought he had a king sized bed, but we really had a queen. After 2+ years of fighting (sometimes quite literally -- just ask my friends, I steal pillows and will whine at you in the middle of the night), we have super-sized our queen.

I KNOW a king is bigger ... but we've not slept on one for a long period of time ... and it has made SUCH a big difference! It also takes up a LOT more room than before (notice how much closer the side tables are to the wall?). It's also higher, which has been a bit of an adjustment for me.

Post-dinner

Remember when Erika and I had out house blessed? Scroll down to the last photo. Yes, that's my dad sleeping at a social event. It's sort of a standard for Mikols men.

Well, when we were at my sister's house for a graduation party last week, my brother didn't disappoint. But since they just moved into their house, Carl had no couch to stretch out on. No bother. A floor will do just fine, thankyouverymuch.

Why oh why?

Inevitably, whenever we go to stay somewhere other than our house, I'm often commenting "Why does the king bed here seem larger than the one we have?" We just chalked it up to hotels having "California King" sized beds ... but my friend, Kristine, mentioned in most king beds she had seen, there were 2 twin-sized boxed springs underneath. But not on ours.

Sooooo, it got me to wondering. I measured our bed, and yup, 60x80. It's a queen. Or, if we were in Europe, it would be considered a king. No WONDER we're constantly battling for adequate sleeping space in our own home, yet when we go elsewhere with a king, we don't quarrel over mattress space at all.

Well, at least I'm NOT crazy .... everyone else's king bed is in actuality larger than ours.

Mikols Men

On any given Saturday or Sunday afternoon, it's a given that you will find someone passed out on "The Green Couch" at my parents' house. The thing seriously swallows people whole!

Paul crashed out, and was having a snore session, when I grabbed this photo of him! Being a college student is hard work, so I understand the need to nap during spring break. ;-)

After Easter dinner at the Sheldon household, Grandpa Benny crashed out ... sitting up! He is a sleeping champ! Anytime, anywhere! I wish I could do that! In the background, you'll see Carl sprawled out on the couch, nabbing a few zzz's also.

Lastly, here is dad. When I was in 8th grade, he taught me to work a SLR camera, and you can't tear it out of my hands now! He continues to take photographs, but not in the professional realm. He's more of a "prosumer." He got a new camera recently and has been having fun with it!

Here is the photo he took of Max:
